The PA35 Accu-Steer Power Assist Steering

PA35 ACCU-STEER POWER ASSIST STEERING UNIT

The Kobelt PA35 Accu-Steer power assist steering system is built to navigate the roughest seas with the ease of fingertip control. There is no function on your boat more critical than steering. This unit makes steering safe, reliable and effortless.

With safety in mind, the PA35 Accu-Steer is designed to seamlessly revert to manual steering in the event of a power failure. It is ensuring that you always remain in control.

The PA35 unit is a complete pump assembly consisting of a reversing gerotor gear pump, hydraulic lock valves, suction & make-up check valves, a valve-housing manifold, a DC electric motor, and an Electrical Junction Box.

The unit works with both balanced and unbalanced cylinders. When unbalanced cylinders are used it is recommended that a vented header tank is used to allow for the expansion and contraction from the unbalanced cylinder.

The pump-set is designed as an intermittently operated unit for normal steering applications. High demand applications will overwork the motor and cause overheating.

Ideally, the location of the pump-set should satisfy the following conditions:

  • Within 6 feet (1,8 m) of the steering cylinder.
  • Below the steering cylinder for ease of connections and bleeding.
  • Placed on a horizontal shelf or bracket.
  • Not exposed to direct sunlight or any source of heat.
  • Provide a foundation sturdy enough to prevent the transmission of excessive vibrations

This power assist is suitable for either in- or outboard applications with steering cylinders up to the Kobelt 7065 series. It also can accommodate multiple input devices such as the Kobelt 7170 Jog Lever.
