7094DL Steering Cylinder

Kobelts 7094DL 4 ” I.D. steering cylinder is a durable, solid cylinder that offers strength and flexibility in sizing and rudder movement for marine vessels. Castings are all made in silicon bronze. The steel barrel is micro-honed. Piston rod is made of chromed alloy steel and tie rods are made of stainless steel. The spherical bearings on either end are built for strength and easy alignment and rarely require replacement. Piston seals are of polyurethane material. The piston rod seal is “V” packing seal and is also provided with an adjusting stop nut for precise stroke and over-travel limiter. Made for larger rudder sizes and twin tiller arms, it is only available in an unbalanced version.

For unbalanced, the 7094DL has the following torque, stroke and displacement ranges. Assuming two cylinders at 2,000 PSI (138 bar) at a 35 degree rudder angle / 45 degree rudder angle.

Torque:
 31,395 to 78,460 lbs. ft. (4,341 to 10,848 kg/m)  /  21,975 to 54,910 lbs. ft. (3,038 to 7,592 kg/m)
Stroke: 12″ to 30″ (305 mm to 762 mm)
Displacement: 264 in3 to 660 in3 (4,326 cm3 to 10,815 cm3)

Kobelt requires a steering gear torque or rudder calculation be done before sizing or ordering any steering system, to ensure the correct mix of pressure, displacement, stroke, parts and torque.

For this cylinder a repair kit is available.
