The 5300 Series direct acting brake can be spring applied for failsafe applications or hydraulic applied for tensioning applications. What differentiates a direct acting brake from a lever brake or caliper brake is the absence of a pivot point or lever arm between the brake actuator and the brake pad. On a direct acting brake, the brake actuator acts directly on the brake pad.
